Small and Minority Business Support

Mo is the creator and designer of PowerUp Spartanburg. It is the single largest investment in Small and Minority Business in the history of Spartanburg County by any governmental entity. Spartanburg County Council invested six million dollars and through its private partnerships leveraged that investment into 16 million dollars of grants, loans, and support programs. Affordable Housing

Mo believes affordable housing is the single largest issue facing Spartanburg and South Carolina. Mo believes that the State low income housing tax credit (LIHTC) should be expanded and that local governments should incentivize affordable housing projects through tax abatements and by the donation of government-owned land tracts.

Fair, Transparent, and Respectful Law Enforcement

Mo is the chairman of the Spartanburg County Public Safety and Judiciary Committee. Through this work, Mo has created collegial working relationships with Spartanburg Law Enforcement. Mo believes that law enforcement should be paid, trained, and treated as professionals and held to professional standards regarding their treatment of the community they serve. As a civil rights attorney, Mo has had many opportunities to hold bad apples within the law enforcement community accountable while also supporting the vast amount of law enforcement officers who are doing it correctly.

Reproductive Rights

Respect for medical autonomy specifically a women’s right to an abortion

Medical decisions are made between a doctor and her patient. The government has no place in our personal medical decisions.

Respect for the beliefs and lifestyles of others

All faiths and lifestyles are entitled to equal respect in the eyes of the government. This nation was built on respect for differing faiths and differing people. Mo supports our LGTBTQIA+ brothers and sisters

Respect for the Rule of Law

Ours is a country of laws, not men. We expect that the law applies to everyone equally. Everyone is entitled to a fair criminal and civil justice system.
